Orientation 02 Feb 19th-22nd♥

This orientation not only gave me skills, it also allowed me to discover many aspects of myself.

Aspects I never knew I had.

Honestly, when I first signed up to be an OGL (Orientation Group Leader), I was rather worried. I was worried that I didn't have the determination to put in my best, that I would give up either during the 3 day orientation training camp, or even during the 02 orientation itself.

I knew that I was a person who would give up very easily if the pressure gets too high. I was so afraid I'd break down or lose my temper if the group gets difficult to handle.

During the OGL interview, I was so discouraged. I had felt very flustered and just babbled my way through endlessly. When I saw my name in black print letters on the paper posting the people accepted for OGL, feelings of excitement, relief, and dread washed over me.

I suddenly felt the heavy responsibility placed over my shoulders. I longed to do as best as I can, the best I've ever done in this orientation. but the question was: could I? or would I break down again and give up halfway?

Although I was a student leader during my last 2 secondary school years, I never had the chance to independently lead a group by myself. I felt stressed.

However, 02 gave me the opportunity to lead.

Yes, I do have another OGL working with me, and he is a JC2 student. For better or for worse, he gave me space to lead and do things that I believe are best. As in, in many decision making scenarios, he wanted me to decide. At that time, I felt exasperated at times when I really felt lost, but in the end of it all, I realised, it just made me more independent and more confident in my decisions.

I'm very grateful for his actions. (: thanks!!

And just to dissapate any questions: he did not slack. He stepped in at times when he felt the decision I make may lead to disastrous consequences. (:

Also, I have to thank the heavens for giving me an OG where the members are so co-operative. They saw me as a PEER LEADER and gave me respect instead of showing ignorance. THANK YOU DELTA 15!!

In the beginning, everyone, including me, were feeling super awkward and I was nervous as I didn't know what to do. I don't have much knowledge of games played as I never attended any camps at all until Secondary Three. I had to struggle my way through and had to keep asking the OG members to suggest and teach any new games they know.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING PATIENT WITH ME!! I honestly don't know much camp games. THANKS FOR HELPING ME OUT PPLS!!!!!

Throughout the 02 orientation, the teachers did give us advice for those stubborn ppl who didn't wish to co-operate. They told us two words: LET GO.

Yup, I did encounter those ppl, and when that happened, the words LET GO filt across my mind, but then, I hesitated in doing that. I felt as if I'll be like...excluding them, so I tried my best during the Orientation to get them involved, and guess what? IT WORKED. Finally, on the 3rd and final day of the orientation during the campfire, they were actually dancing and singing to everything and cheering their loudest in all the cheers!!!

I was ELATED. thanks ppl. (:

This orientation taught me to never give up. that I CAN do it.

We shouldn't give up easily or we'll never feel the full sense of accomplishment.

We should believe in ourselves no matter our past. (:

Rock On Delta 15!!!
